How to Prepare Shrimp

  • Thaw shrimp, leave in shell.
  • Boil the water – approximately 1 quart of water per 1 pound of shrimp.
  • Add seasoning: 1 tbsp vinegar, desired amount of Old Bay.
  • Add shrimp to coiling water (water must cover shrimp).
  • Return to rolling boil.
  • Remove from pot immediately when shrimp meat separates from top shell (3-5 minutes).
  • To clean – pull the swimmerets apart, splitting the bottom shell and remove the shrimp meat. Remove the vein down the back with a sharp pointed knife.
  • Serve cold with cocktail sauce, serve hot with drawn butter laced with lemon juice, sauté lightly in butter, white wine, and garlic (Scampi), or prepare your own favorite recipe.
