How to Prepare Shrimp
Ingredients
- Shrimp, shell on
- vinegar
- Old Bay seasoning
- cocktail sauce (optional)
- butter (optional)
- lemon (optional)
Instructions
- Thaw shrimp, leave in shell.
- Boil the water – approximately 1 quart of water per 1 pound of shrimp.
- Add seasoning: 1 tbsp vinegar, desired amount of Old Bay.
- Add shrimp to coiling water (water must cover shrimp).
- Return to rolling boil.
- Remove from pot immediately when shrimp meat separates from top shell (3-5 minutes).
- To clean – pull the swimmerets apart, splitting the bottom shell and remove the shrimp meat. Remove the vein down the back with a sharp pointed knife.
- Serve cold with cocktail sauce, serve hot with drawn butter laced with lemon juice, sauté lightly in butter, white wine, and garlic (Scampi), or prepare your own favorite recipe.
