WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES

Wine, Women & Shoes

What better way to raise money for the Opportunity House of Reading than by hosting an event in which people can help those in need AND have fun all at the same time! Talk about a win-win!  Approximately 450 people came out last Thursday evening, April 19 to support the local non-profit organization at the 3rd annual Wine, Women & Shoes fundraiser which was held at the Doubletree in downtown Reading.

The Opportunity House is a Reading-based emergency homeless shelter that also provides transitional and permanent housing, veteran support, child-care & after-school programs.

More than 30 local men volunteered as “shoe guys,” who showcased the wares that were for sale and helped with other tasks throughout the night. Prior to the fundraiser, the “shoe guys” competed individually to raise as much money as they could for the cause. The collective goal was $5,000 and they exceeded it by far raising $46,371 for the Opportunity House. The leader of the pack was Dr. Dennis Mauro who raised $8,490 and was crowned the 2018 King of Sole.

There was a pop-up boutique marketplace, prize drawings, wine-tasting, and hor-d’oeuvres, where Adelphia served our famously scrumptious HOT CRAB SPREAD with artisan bread.

Our own in-house production kitchen and chef creates fresh, new seafood spreads and dips on a daily basis and are available for purchase at all of our retail locations. These are perfect as a quick appetizer or snack and can be served with bread, crackers, pretzels, and vegetables!  If you want to get a taste of our crab dip or anything else for that matter, we have it for you.  We won’t tell anyone either if you want to take credit for making it at your next party or event!
