Adelphia Seafood Wins The Wilson Iron Chef Competition

Adelphia Seafood Takes Home the Wilson Iron Chef Award and People’s Choice Runner-up!


On Sunday March 11th. Adelphia Seafood took part in the Wilson Iron Chef competition and benefit Auction with proceeds benefitting the Wilson Education Foundation, whose mission is to positively impact students’ lives by supporting the Wilson School District in Student Experience, Teaching Excellence, and Community Engagement.

Many Food Vendors took part in a great day while the People’s Choice Award was voted on by the ticketholders.  The Hitching Post won People’s Choice.  Adelphia Seafood won First Runner-up for their White Cheddar Apple Bisque topped with Bacon and Crab Meat.

Then it was on to the stage in the Wilson High School Auditorium with 3 local Chefs competing for 2018 Wilson Iron Chef. Chef’s Martino and Manser from Adelphia Seafood teamed up to create a unique dish using 3 Secret Ingredients, which were: Red Lentils, Duck Breasts, Bananas, and the Surprise:  MOVIE THEATRE BUTTER POPCORN.  As the chefs competed with a 30 minute time frame Chef Martino and Sous Chef Craig Manser managed to create the following to win 2018 Wilson Iron Chef.

-Seared Chinese 5 Spice Duck Breast w/ Lotus Root, Bok Choy, & Bell Peppers in a Blood Orange and Szechuan Sauce

-Served with a Red Lentil & Soba Noodle Salad w/ Napa Cabbage, Cilantro, Mint and tossed in a Ponzu Dressing

-Accompanied by a Vegetable Sushi w/ Shiitake Mushroom, Asparagus, Carrot, Sesame Seeds & Flying Fish Roe topped with a Banana Bang Bang Sauce

-Garnished with a Spiced Lotus Root Chip and Grilled Blood Orange

*The Movie Theater Popcorn was ground up into a powder and used as a thickening agent for the Blood Orange and Szechuan Sauce.
