Adelphia Seafood Voted Best Seafood Market, Again

Adelphia Seafood would like to thank our loyal and new customers for voting us Best Seafood Market for the third year in a row.

Adelphia Seafood is the region’s leading fresh fish and seafood provider to both retail and wholesale seafood customers. We currently deliver to a variety of mid-Atlantic states, servicing hundreds of restaurants, retailers and food service. Our vision is to assist in living a healthy lifestyle and offer excel- lent customer service and expertise in seafood to our community.

Our history dates back to the 1950s when we were founded by Harry O. Hahn, who ran both a retail and wholesale business out of a location at Ninth and Greenwich streets. In 1973, Walter Hurleman and Donald Wentling acquired the business, and in 1975, opened a second location in Pottsville. The third location acquired was called Adelphia Sea- food and was based out of Lancaster. In 1979, the Fairgrounds Farmers Market opened in Reading. Each of the four locations ran separate retail and wholesale businesses. The West Lawn location was opened in 1983 and all wholesale business is now directed through this location, ending the Lancaster site.

In 2007, Jason Hurleman and Ted Kuhn acquired the business from Walter Hurleman. Today, Adelphia Seafood still operates as a family-owned business dedicated to the community and encouraging them to “buy local”.

Adelphia serves customers through three retail locations: West Lawn, Fairgrounds Farmers Market and Pottsville, employing 100 individuals through sales, customer service, fish cutting, warehouse, purchasing and retail.

We thank you for voting us No. 1 and promise to continue to support our community the best we can. Get Fresh!
