Adelphia Seafood Runs to the Finish Line Yuengling Lager Jogger

On Saturday, April 21, the 6th annual Yuengling Light 5K Lager Jogger took place. The event, which had 3,500 people preregistered to compete, brought many spectators into the city.  The winner?  A repeat champ from NJ named Kyle Price with a time of 16:47.  Hosted by D.G. Yuengling and Sons, Inc., this race was started in 2013 and really gives a boost to the Pottsville economy. It creates a reason for people to return at least once a year for this competition and celebration. The brewery hosts tours year round for visitors to get an inside look of the operations of the Pottsville-based business.

D.G. Yuengling is a highly popular beer brand and is a family-run company since 1829 based in Pottsville, PA. They have recently celebrated 185 years of continuous operation.  Adelphia has partnered with Yuengling in using their beer batter for years and this was our first time to participate in the event.

Adelphia Seafood has a retail location at 716 South Centre Street in Pottsville. No, we didn’t have any runners who competed, but we were there serving up Yuengling beer- battered haddock and fries to help refuel any empty power banks for runners or even spectators after the race. Our Pottsville location hours are Tuesday, Noon-6pm, Wednesday-Friday, 10am-6pm, Saturday, 10am-4pm.

A variety of other vendors were at the event as well ranging from food, services, retailers and non-profit organizations.  A portion of the runners’ registration fee will go directly to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit that annually sends 150,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items to U.S. service members deployed oversees. A letter writing station was available so participants could write notes to be included in the shipped care packages.

Overall, it was a fun and successful event and we will likely be there next year as well!  A big thanks to all the patrons who supported us!
